Now since you've not told us if this is a mac book, or an alien ware, or an ACER, then just run the battery all the way down till it shuts off, then charge it while its OFF (that means dont use it!) and wait for the battery indicator light to show green, or whatever it does to say the battery is 100%. If youre using it on battery every day and charging it, then you've just ran through your battery's cycles and wore it out and should replace it. This makes your battery last a little longer. discharge it all the way till it turns off, then plug it in and let it charge all the way. If you're leaving it plugged in 24/7 then you need to run your battery once every so often, maybe 30-90 days. Either way, they only have so many charge cycles. Your battery has a life cycle, and about half a year is pretty low, but not that uncommon, either you're leaving your laptop plugged in constantly, or you're using your battery every day and charging it every day.
